- Mary was the daughter of John Dihle and Sarah Irwin. The 1900 Census lists Mary and her mother living in Cumberland Co., PA. Mary listed her occupation as a winder in a silk mill. Her mother was working in a shoe factory. Mary's father is not listed. She married Adolph Gustave Obenland in Philadelphia, PA in 1908. (Certificate #231606) The couple had three children, Adolph Carl (or Carl Adolph), George Russell and Alma. George died when he was 7 years old of tetanus. Alma never married. Adolph Carl married Helen Neil. In the early days of their marriage, Mary and Adolph lived in Philadelphia, PA. Adolph worked as a real estate agent while Mary kept house. Sometime between 1918 and 1920, the family moved to Franklin Co., OH. In the 1920 Census, they were living in Columbus, OH. Adolph was now a drug salesman and Mary was working as a stenographer at a varnish company. By 1930, they were living at 760 S. Remington Rd, in Bexley, Ohio. also in Franklin Co. They owned their home, which had a value of $9,000 at that time. Adolph still earned his living as a drug salesman and Mary worked as an accountant for a candy company. Mary and her husband were both living in Dade County, FL at the time of their deaths. Adolph died in 1961 and Mary died on Nov. 18, 1962. She was laid to rest next to her husband on Nov. 24, 1962.
