  Translated from the German Wikipedia: Karl Gottlob Obeng (born February 2, 1871 Ilsfeld; died June 3, 1966 ibid) was a farmer and state representative. In 1951 he was appointed an honorary citizen of his hometown of Ilsfeld. He was born into a successful, centuries-old farming family. He first worked on his parents' farm, where he worked from 1890 as a horse owner and supplied stones from the quaires for road construction in Ilsfeld and later helped build the Bottwartalbahn. During the Great Ilsfeld fire in 1904, he was deputy fire chief. He triggered the first alarm and made the first attempts as putting it out. In the years following 1905 he was a member of the Civic Committee and council member from 1909 to 1933. He gained recognition for the elctrification of Ilsfeld in 1912. He was the Deputy Mayor for years, the tax office tax estimator in Bietigheheim, Anerbenrichter Bietigheim (a judge) in the district court, a local peasant leader and board member of the Loan Fund. From 1919 to 1933, Gottlob was the director of the Agricultural District Association in Bietigheim. From 1922 to 1932, he was also a member of the farmers and winegrowers in Wurttemberg in the Wurttemberg State Parliment.
